An Emerald is as green as grass, A flint is sort of shoddy, but which gives the richest gift.?

 Here is a lovely poem by Christina Rossetti.
As well as writing some amazing classic poems, she also wrote many smaller poems for children. This one is simply
called:

FLINT

Emerald
is as green as grass

An emerald is as green as grass, Ruby red as blood

A ruby red as blood;Sapphire Shines as blue as heaven

A sapphire shines as blue as heaven;
A flint lies in the mud.
A
diamond is a brilliant stone.Opal holds a fiery spark but .......

A diamond is a brillant stone,
To catch the world's desire;
An opal holds a fiery spark;

the flint although nothing
special to look at. ...Makes Fire!

But a

flint holds the secret of fire.

Flint makes Fire
