I am here watching and listening to the fabulous
words of Dylan Thomas's Under Milk Wood, with
Angharad Rees, Ryan, and Richard Burton, Elizabeth
Taylor, Glynis Johns and Peter O'Toole playing the
part of the old, blind sea captain. The voice that
is, and always will be Richard Burton, speaking
Dylan's words, like cream dripping off a cat's
tongue, or water trickling sweetly over pebbles in
a brook, oh "Hiraeth", My Wales, Cymru am Byth, my
love for my country will forever be here in my
heart. And after my ramblings I am sure you will
enjoy the story of:
SNOWDROP AND THE DWARFS
One winter day, when the snow lay deep on the
ground, a gentle queen sat by her window working.
As she worked she pricked her finger, so that two
little drops of blood fell from it.
The queen sighed and said: "How I wish that
I might have a little daughter with cheeks as rosy
as those drops of blood, with skin as white as snow
and hair as black as this ebony window frame.!"
To her great delight the queen's wish was
granted, and before long a little daughter came,
the Queen named her Snowdrop.
Alas soon after this the good Queen died,
and Snowdrop's father, the king, married another
lady, she was very beautiful but she was also very
vain and unkind. She new that she was the most
beautiful lady in the land because when she looked
into her magic mirror and asked:
